... 90% of "bottoms" available at the stores I frequent (Target, Meijer, Sears, JC Penney) are jeans. The other 10% are short little "street walker" skirts. Penney's did have some dresses but they were more for special occasion or church. (Which is fine but I was looking for everyday.) Now, we aren't a dress only family but I like to encourage dresses and skirts over pants most of the time. It's kinda hard to do if you can't find anything cute, stylish, modern and modest.
But after watching the
Homestead Blessing ladies on their Art of Sewing video, and seeing cute patterns at the fabric store and
other places. I am certain I can master clothes sewing. I've done other items for a while but clothes have always freaked me out. Remember the Cosby Show episode where Denise sews Theo a shirt and it turned out horribly wrong? (One super short sleeve, one super long sleeve, buttons askew etc.) That is what I fear. But I shall prevail so my girls can have proper clothing.
This is the Agnes Tunic from
Jennifer Paganelli's Girl's World Book. Love it! But I am going to play with the length a bit so that it is knee length when my girls sit.
